A Centennial City for the Centennial State
Centennial Colorado is a city that cuts a wide swath across South Metro Denver, as it is East of Littleton and South of Englewood, Greenwood Village and Aurora. In 2001, the City of Centennial Colorado was formed and incorporated to stop Aurora and Greenwood Village from annexing areas of unincorporated Arapahoe County and raising taxes. It was named for the fact that Colorado is the Centennial State, as it joined the union in 1876. I have also heard from some folks that the book Centennial by the late James Michener had some ‘romantic’ sway in the decision and Centennial’s motto “Spirit of the Past” reflects both the book and the Colorado Statehood pioneers’ core values of bravery, hard work and honesty.
Centennial Colorado has a population of approximately 101,000 citizens (2010) and is ranked as the 15th safest city in the US. I-25 goes through the middle of Centennial and the city’s boundaries are a bit irregular and seem particularly intertwined with the boundaries of Aurora and Foxfield in the eastern portions of the city, but the City of Centennial appears to know where everything is, and that all that counts! 🙂
Centennial Homes Inventory
Right now, the Denver Metrolist inventory of Centennial homes is on the low side, mortgage rates are low and prices still favor buyers, but buyers need to act quickly as new homes on the market are snapped up fast. Indeed, this may be your “golden” opportunity to purchase a home here and you would be well advised to buy now before this window of opportunity closes. Timing is everything! Foreclosure rates are down and the Centennial MLS inventory is starting to decline. In the meantime, demand for property in this community is on the rise. Centennial is a wonderful area when it comes to value and a high quality of life. Don’t miss this chance to “stake your claim” as the pioneers might say!
Location, Location, Location – Centennial Homes Make Good Investments!
Why do Centennial homes make such good long-term investments? Well, look at this Google Centennial map to see one good reason. Centennial’s location is, as mentioned above, East of Littleton and South of Englewood, Greenwood Village and Aurora – all primo areas! This part of Metro Denver is both beautiful and near everything – Park Meadows, Cherry Creek Mall and downtown Denver
In addition to the ideal location, Centennial homes have a solid reputation for value and many are upscale communities of executive homes ranging from $300K to $800K+. Well-respected neighborhoods include Bridgefield, Chenango, Chaparral, Orchard Drive and Piney Creek Estates. Many townhomes and condominiums are all to be found on the Denver Metrolist system as well. The Centennial schools are recognized for academic excellence and Centennial is served by Littleton Public Schools and Cherry Creek Public Schools, as well as a few private schools. Centennial homeowners strongly support the public school system and other important community factors that account for the high quality of life that this town is known for, like all the youth sports programs in baseball, basketball, football, soccer and swimming in the numerous parks and recreation centers.
