Green Construction: LEEDS, HERS and NAHB/ICC – 700 Rating Systems/Scales will let us know how well our Energy Star®, Solar, Energy Efficient and Sustainable Homes for Sale, in the Denver CO Metro Area are doing!
There is a great deal of interest in solar, wind, hi-tech, Energy Star® and sustainable homes or ‘Green’ Homes these days. I don’t believe any of us think the prices for energy are going down in the future, so why not buy a much more efficient house that will save you money and help the planet in the years ahead? These available Green homes are the results of a Denver Metro area wide search, and will incorporate different ways of being a more efficient home. The Green Homes for sale search for different cities and counties is on the drop down menu. This search is based on following available features: Solar, Solar Hot Water and ‘Available Environmental’ audit-paper work. The extent and accuracy of this will depend on how accurately the home seller filled out the Seller’s Property Disclosure form and the Green/Energy Addendum. As our new Metrolist Green/Energy Addendum starts being used (effective 3/7/12), the descriptions of efficient energy modifications and rebuilds will become very detailed, which encompasses the LEEDS, HERS and NAHB/ICC – 700 Rating Systems/Scales mentioned above. See my post on the RE Colorado Green/Energy Definitions for more details on this and see what you think! This knowledge of our rapidly changing environment and how to use less and spend less for a sustainable future will be a huge help in selling/marketing and buying homes. The State of Colorado is leading the way in energy efficient housing and building standards in the US!
By the way, I get questions about the numerous acronyms – LEEDS, HERS, NAHB/ICC – 700 etc, in the ‘Green’ industry, so here is a link from the NAR Green Certification training site, that explains these mysterious sounding terms!
